Day 10 | Last Day at citruSnap

May 21, 2013

Today marks my last day at citruSnap Photography Studio. Thinking that there won't be any shoot today and I was supposedly going to help out with something else, a call came in the morning and when I got to the studio, I was told that there will be a shoot in the afternoon.

Before the shoot, since I came in early, I was asked to do the signage for our water dispenser which was recently added to the studio.

We had an avant garde inspired shoot today with Ms. Olivia. Our photographer was Sir Mark. He's the photographer that told me he often uses the "Octa" and as expected, he used the Octa light today. Haha.

We had a fun shoot even without music. We only noticed that we didn't play any music when the shoot was over. Epic fail... After the shoot, I tried on the headpeace that Ms. Olivia wore with the first gown for the shoot. She said it was heavy but I didn't think it'd be THAT heavy although it looks awesome when I wore it. Heehee~

I will miss working with citruSnap! :(
Having photoshoots, no matter what the theme is, are always fun at citruSnap. There will always be laughter at the studio and also a lot of learning experiences. I have gained a lot of knowledge during my OJT at citruSnap and not only that, but I have also gotten used to interacting with clients. I'll be sure to visit the studio again, no doubt about that. :)

Day 9 | Catalog Shoot

May 20, 2013

Today we had a rental shoot for a bag catalog. There were about 5 or 6 models today and it's my first time to see a foreign hair stylist. O_o;

Anyways, all I did today was watch over the studio while the shoot was on-going. I managed to take some shots of a few catalog layouts. Today, I was amazed by the outcome of the lighting as the shots were projected on the MacBook Pro that the photographer had with her (the camera was connected to the laptop).

Seeing how the model and the bag popped out of the picture and how the black backdrop turned out pitch black in the picture really amazed me. Working with different lighting setups really amaze me every time because of how the picture would turn out afterwards. On-site, the setups would look plain and normal  but when shots are taken, the pictures come out amazing like, "Woah! How'd that happen?!"

As I work at citruSnap Photography Studio, I learn a lot and as days pass by, I get used to moving things around like the studio lights and the other equipment. This OJT has made me more responsible especially at the workplace and working with things I love doing just makes working fun!

Day 8 | My 20th Birthday | Boudoir Shoot

May 19, 2013

Happy Birthday to me! Haha! Today, I spent my birthday at work and at the same time, we had a Boudoir Shoot! :)

Today was a really fun day.
Today's Boudoir Shoot is about REAL women and not the ordinary skinny models from the agencies... well they are free to join in but for today, none of the models from any agency came. We had lingerie designs by Paola Angela and our makeup artist for today was Maita Atienza.

It was fun working with our models today although in general, there will be models that are "divas" and models that are just "down-to-earth" and I love working with the ones that are "down-to-earth" because they come on time or even earlier, they don't complain, and they stay firm to their appointment schedules (whether or not they will proceed with the shoot or cancel).

As usual, I got to move the lights and help set up the studio. We had three setups today. The first was with the white curtain on the right side, the second was with the "living room" type of setup and the last was with the gray backdrop.

During lunch, I had ordered pizza and the spaghetti was ordered by my supervisors. After a while, they surprised me with a birthday cake! So sweet!! Now it realy feels like I'm a part of the citruSnap Family!

Today was full of laughter which made the shoot proceed with its best effort!
Almost forgot to include this. I was fixing up the Grand Box to be used for the shoot today. This was taken by Kuya RC this morning.
And yep, one of my supervisors; Sir Dondi just photobombed me while I was fixing the Grand Box. Haha!
Yay! Finally a decent shot of a job well done.

Day 7 - Makeup Class

May 18, 2013

Finally had a well deserved rest yesterday! This morning, instead of a shoot, there was a basic makeup class held at the studio. Instead of learning about something of the studio and photography, I learned more about makeup which I really enjoyed even though I wasn't really a part of the class. (Heehee free class for me! But sadly no freeby, awww) For the whole session, the participants as well as the instructor used the Naked Palette from Urban Decay which I also really wanted!

So jealous T_T; I've always wanted that makeup palette! Oh well... I asked the instructor's assistant how much the palette was and I found out it costs about P2,000. Yikes...

With this session, I learned more about what color goes well with my skintone and what brands or formulas that would go well with my skintype.

The set up of the class was simple. Of course I had moved and adjusted the studio lights for the "Before & After" shots.

I forgot to take a shot of the "Before Shot" and I was only able to take a shot for the "After Shot" of one of the participants.

Day 6 | Teen Beauty Shoot | Modeling Training

May 16, 2013

Today we had a shoot for pre-teens and teens. I heard that posing and having pictorials such as this are part of Modeling Training. Our client, Ms. Risa was directing the girls how to pose properly in front of the camera. Also, the photographer was directing the only guy how to pose properly as well.

I never realized how modeling can be that hard. Poses should be accurate and obviously shouldn't look awkward in photos except if the theme is to be awkward. Modeling needs a lot of training, and one has to pay for a lot of expenses like clothes, shoes, photoshoots, makeup artists, photographers, etc.

I wanted to be a model ever since I was a kid since everyone tells me that I'm tall enough to be one and thin enough as well. Although now, I'm gaining a bit of weight... -_-;

Last year I even attended an orientation for modeling as my Atenean friend recommended me to a certain company, later did I know that it was actually a "Networking" Company that never even talked about modeling!

Anyways, this OJT has been teaching me about a lot of things that I may not have realized before. OJT has managed my time, my expenses, teaches me things that I haven't learned at school before, and has given me opportunities I thought I'd never get. Like modeling for Get Laud Shoes! (Well... only my legs down to my feet got to step into the famous lights haha)

This is what we call the Octa; short for Octagon light. It captures and produces the perfect lighting. I have no work tomorrow~! I deserve to have some rest. Yay!

Day 5 | Photography Dept. | Bridal Shoot

May 14, 2013

Today we had a bridal shoot which consists of a few beauty shots, outfit changes for full body shots, couple shots, and serene-look shots. I helped out with setting the backgrounds, adjusting the lights and I was also the guinea pig of the photographer and by that, I mean I’m the model for the test shots. Haha.

I saw three very beautiful dresses today although I only took pictures of the bridal gown since it was mainly a bridal shoot. Also, I took a few couple shots which I thought were so cute. I also helped out the photographer during the half body beauty shots by holding up the reflector.

By taking time to talk to the photographer after being the guinea pig for a bit, I’ve learned that his style of using studio lights is just by using one type of studio light which is the Octagon Light that captures everything. It could capture beauty shots, full frame or full body shots, product photography, and anything else. That light alone or with a fill light somewhere gives off the perfect lighting no matter what type of shoot he does. He also admitted that sometimes he’s just lazy to set up other fill lights that’s why he just uses the Octagon Light or in short, it’s called the “Octa”.

Elections | Rest Day

May 13, 2013

Today is the day for the Philippine Elections so there is less traffic today. My mom and I went to UP Shopping Center to print out the photos that I would include in my Photo Documentation and Portfolio. Later on, I'll be printing out my blogs.

Since most offices are closed for today, I'm at home, fixing all the requirements that I need to pass for the finals. Still worried about when I'll be finishing my remaining hours though. :(

I hope it's okay to have an extension of 2 weeks just for me to finish my remaining hours. I really want to pass this OJT, I do not want to fail. OJT is the ticket for me to advance to my 4th year; my last year in college. This OJT has formed me to become more responsible and able to work under pressure although sometimes I can't take it, I still do my very best to accomplish what I can. I just need 2 weeks and I'll be done with my OJT hours by the end of this month. Since the company I work at have On-Call / Scheduled photoshoots, it is really hard for me to fill up 100 hours in a short amount of time. It was easy to accomplish 100 hours for the creative department because everyday, I sit in the office and make layouts for upcoming shoots. In the photography department, I have to wait until there is a photoshoot which has schedules every other day or every week.

I'll be going to work tomorrow and I do hope that it's a whole day shoot because I really need to fill up the remaining hours.
